There are various types of stationary bikes that I would recommend but one that may be easier for women who are expecting is to buy a recumbent bike. This bike reclines and leans back for a more comfortable sitting position and takes pressure off of your knees. A high quality recumbent bike would be the Schwinn 230 model as seen in Photo A. You can buy this bike as low as 450.00 brand new. This model is recommended for its ease of comfort on your joints which is important while you are pregnant. By using this bike it allows more room for your belly, less joint pain and stability. This particular model has sixteen levels of resistance and plenty of workout programs to choose from. This bike is especially great for lower body and cardiovascular workouts! The second product I would recommend (if money is not object) is the Lifecycle C3-5 (Refer to Photo B). It has a 400 pound weight capacity and automatically varies the resistance to keep you in the correct heart rate zone. It also has 20 levels of resistance and ten pre-programmed workouts. There are a lot of nice features on this one and it will give you the "club" exercise quality. It also is a safer product to use due to the polar heart rate monitor which includes a wireless chest strap. The price runs about 1,700 dollars while the recumbent version of this bike costs around 1,800. The third bike, (shown in Photo C) is the Life Core Fitness 900RB Recumbent Bike. This bike costs approximately 1,000 bucks. It is equipped to provide back support with its high padded seat which is adjustable. This will provide a bit more comfort for the expecting mom because the lumbar placement is adjustable to fit any size. It also comes with deluxe monitor features and one can toggle or scroll through the functions and adjust the resistance. One very important health risk for expecting mothers is overheating. The Life Core Bike actually tracks time, temperature and heart rate just by using the integrated grip sensors. Not only would this bike be a total workout it comes with a lifetime warranty as well!The fourth bike I would recommend (as shown in Photo D), is the Women's Specific Design or otherwise known as the (WSD). This bike is only for the cycle enthusiasts! This type of design has endurance, stamina, comfort and power. For example, pregnant women need less pressure on the pubic bone and soft tissue and the WSD saddles allows just that. It actually reduces the pressure and lets your legs relax which will increase your power output.
